I Do Not Exist – according to Obamacare

With the State of the Union (or disunion depending on who is watching), I thought I would take a brief moment of your time and regal you since I do not exist. I tried to obey “the law” (for once in my life) and sign up for Obamacare – but, he did not care! I went to the site on two different occasions – entered all my data – and was told that I do not exist!EEsmiling

While studying the Bhagavad- Gita under the tutelage of Eknath Easwaran  (true story – http://www.easwaran.org/eknath-easwaran.html) I was told to extinguish my ego – little 14_largedid I know!

Arjuna:

Tell me of the man who lives in wisdom, Ever aware of the Self, O Krishna; How does he talk, how sit, how move about?

Sri Krishna:

He lives in wisdom Who sees himself in all and all in him, Whose love for the Lord of Love has consumed Every selfish desire and sense-craving Tormenting the heart. Not agitated By grief nor hankering after pleasure, He lives free from lust and fear and anger Fettered no more by selfish attachments, He is not elated by good fortune Nor depressed by bad. Such is the seer. But when you move amidst the world of sense From both attachment and aversion freed, There comes the peace in which all sorrows end, And you live in the wisdom of the Self. The disunited mind is far from wise; How can it meditate? How be at peace? He is forever free who has broken out Of the ego-cage of I and mine To be united with the Lord of Love. This is the supreme state. Attain thou this And pass from death to immortality.

Shooting Skeet with your Tactical?

Being a fan of Vitaly at  http://www.rem870.com/, I started thinking of ways to spend more time with my Remington 870. Walking

Remington 870's 12 gauge and 20 gauge

12 gauge and 20 gauge

through Walmart I stumbled upon a box of WhiteFlyer biodegradable clays. At $9.00 for 90 clays and $5.00 for a thrower – I bought them.

My Remington 870 has a BLACKHAWK Knoxx SpecOps Gen II stock coupled with a Remington 18″ smooth barrel (Parkerized) and I just added a Choate +3 magazine extension (Parkerized – yes, it is two inches longer than the barrel but does not impede function). The gun is sweet and I bought the Blackhawk Powerpack to keep an extra 5 shells handy and the handy waterproof tube on the other side. The Limbsaver recoil pad coupled with the Blackhawk recoil reduction makes the 12 gauge feel like a 410…well not really but close. I shoot Winchester 00 buck with 9 pellets and Winchester PDX1 for home defense.IMG_20140126_144248_237

Okay, now ya know what I am shooting – but I always feel that shooting 55 gallon drums on the run and cartons full of water while simulating home defense here on the ranch in Montana is expensive. I just thought instead of shooting the LC Smith side x side for clays, I should try the home defense gun that is with me 24/7 truck gun, home gun, all around gun. (Yes, I shot a bobcat last month that was eating the chickens but not before he got the barn cat.)

I think that this was a cool exercise in shooting. I spent about two hours shooting clays. My partner was shooting a 20 gauge Remington 870 and not as successful with the 20. The 12 gauge reached right out and blew those clays to smithereens.  I was surprised! I could miss and practice pumping that 870 and getting off a second shot to blow the clay outa the air. I think that shooting both 870’s added muscle memory. It also made me much more comfortable with my gun. The 870 tips the scale at just over 12lbs fully loaded. Carrying 13 shells is heavy and yet even with the light loads (#7) it improved my coordination.

It was sixty degrees here in Montana yesterday – a respite from the cold! Today it is 24 with winds over 30 mph. I am glad I got some shooting in yesterday to build confidence in myself and break in that new spring from Choate. I know many do not like the Choate magazine extension – but it functions well on both the 20 gauge and the 12 gauge.

So, take some time and head out and shoot clays with your tactical! Now I just have to figure out this Blackhawk single point sling – not sure I really like a single point. Oh well practice makes perfect!

(Huge thanks to Remington870.com for all the information and great links – without you I would be trippin and stubbing my toe)

Confessional – he is a liar, he is a thief, he is a drunk, druggie….Confessional

I wrote the following on my Facebook page and had a plethora of comments and likes…figure I would share more!

I have been called all of the above – liar, drunk, druggie, thief…and worse…a whole lot worse.

“Today I have been really thankful for friends – at Christmas I got the best present from my poorest friend – he always gives. People look down on him because he does not have the best truck, the best clothes, tons of $$ – I even had a local farmer tell me to watch him…(I watch the local farmer – trust him less) But, it just really hit me who gives back! Look into your “friends” and see who really gives and burn cedar for them and their children!”155771_10151856192777087_1097438307_n

October, and I am alone on the ranch here in Montana. I am really happy because life is peaceful and positive. Having weathered the storm of the century, I could finally write in peace. What actually happened was I went outside and enjoyed the ranch!

The beaver were eating tree after tree and the ranch owner was not happy – not my problem because I am not the caretaker (I do wanna be caretaker but that is another story) so…all good. One of the local mountain men was talking about beaver and the ranch owner wanted the beaver trapped so I asked him to trap. I know his children and his wife and I thought he was a good guy! (I still do) He came in December to trap and brought along his sons and we all learned from the expert. The local farmer saw him trapping and told me he was a thief and no good. (Funny, most people I know say that about the farmer) The farmer told me to run him off – Well, I do not let anyone choose my friends, politics, or religion…so I kept trapping with the guy.

I mentioned to mountain man that the former caretaker had stolen the ranch air hose (the mountain man had a flat) – he said – I have an extra one let me bring it over – and did! I moved from the lower older house to the former caretakers house and who was there to help me move…well not the farmer. Then we only moved the washer and sent the dryer to the dump – the mountain man asked if we needed a dryer – yep the day after Christmas an old sturdy Kenmore shows up in the back of his Toyota.

The mountain man is married to an Indian which makes him a squaw man. (Yes, people still think that way to this day.) I do not care! I do not care if he is white, Indian, a farmer, a mountain man – he is now what I call a friend. I have few friends.

Listen and take a chance, don’t listen to the wealthy farmer, lawyer, preacher, whomever – listen to your gut because had I not listened, I would have lost out.

My bottom line: many times the persons’ judgmental lie is the truth about themselves – next time someone says “he is a liar” – “he is a thief” – “he is no good” – he is he is he is – just figure it is a confession!

Did I meet a Native American Angel Mystic?

Yes, I puzzled over the title – I am making meatloaf and a truck drives up. I think that is odd because the gate is closed. I throw my b7b9aeba1cf32955e9082f57e1a0571cMuck boots on and head outside. A Native American guy about mid 40’s long brown hair in a pony tail and a red ball cap gets out of his mid-90’s Chevy 4×4 (complete with bald tires so ya know he was from Lodge Grass). But, half way through our chat – his tone switched and he asked if he could tell me a story. Being me, I was enthralled.

He started off a bit disjointed and told me one day back in the early 90’s he was in Crow Agency (you know cause every one moves through there) and this guy gets out of the passenger side of a late model expensive ElDorado. The guy has long blonde hair and is tone, tan and looks angelic. He approaches and asks the native what tribe? Crow – from Lodge Grass – and then he listens to a diatribe about the coming end of the world. The blonde passenger is a hitchhiker headed to Lame Deer on the Cheyenne Rez for sweat lodge. He claims, he is a wealthy guy that has been chosen to spread the word of the apocalypse. He tells the native to buy ”  Phoenix  Rising by Mary Summer Rain. He claims to have been told by the author to spread the word among the native people. The native tells me that he believes a time is coming when all the computer plastic mechanical things will all cease in one day and then no matter who or how wealthy your are – it will not matter. He said his grandfather told him of a time coming when life will grow hard so learn as much as one can about the old ways and prepare.

So, I am standing in my driveway listening and the native guy comes back to himself after an hour long telling. I was enthralled! He smiles and says maybe he will come back this way again someday! and drove away.

Times like these are why I love living on the Crow Rez!

Amazon describes the book:x22505

“In a cabin set deep in a Colorado forest, flickering firelight softens the weathered face of an aged wise woman as she quietly reveals her dramatic visions of the future. Wishing to be called No-Eyes, the old one shares her extensive foresight with her inquisitive and often precocious student, Mary Summer Rain. The intense interactions of the companionable pair range from stern discipline to awe to playfulness. And their heartfelt relationship continues to captivate readers from all walks of life.
Phoenix Rising covers an autumn season in the early 1980’s when extensively detailed revelations were shared by the visionary. The subject matters cover earth changes, economic decline, the devaluation of real estate, Stock Market, nuclear meltdowns, civil unrest, new diseases, radiation leaks, problems within the Church, wars, laboratory leaks, government upheaval, natural disasters such as earthquakes, sinkholes, volcanoes, high winds, catastrophic floods, wide-spread droughts, and more.”

Angel, Mystic, all I know is he was definitely native – now why talk to me?
